Through his abstract work and portraiture, Dublin-based painter John Moore is conducting an ongoing excavation of the interior of the human mind. Working varyingly with oils, acrylic and graphite, Moore seems to probe similar questions to shockingly different effect -- though each stunning in its own respect.

 

Born in Dublin in 1962, Moore studied at the College of Marketing and Design and graduating with an advanced Diploma in Art and Design in 1986. He is a founding member of the renown Temple Bar Gallery & Studios in Dublin, where he still keeps a studio.

 

Moore has won multiple awards including the Iontas Drawing Award and the Materials Award from the Arts Council of Ireland. His work is collected worldwide.
